Just because you live in Texas, doesn’t mean you have to give up your love of the water. Just ask the residents of the Rockwall-Fate area just outside of Dallas. Located only minutes from the 22,000 acre Lake Ray Hubbard, there’s plenty of ways to make a splash in Texas.

For fisherman: This recreational lake supplies numerous options for fishing fun with several boat ramps and miles of shoreline. Try your luck at catching the elusive white bass or the swift hybrid striped bass and be ready to battle it out against a large mouth bass. For families who want to fish together and get a constant bite, throw a line in anywhere along the lake for a strong chance at a channel catfish or blue catfish.

For boaters: Many come out to enjoy a fun boating trip around the lake. There is free parking , several marinas, and boat launches but the trailer spaces fill up quick on the weekends so get there early. Splash it up by skiing, tubing, or wake boarding on the lake. Looking for a more carefree way to get out on the water, consider renting a pontoon boat from Big D Watersports and float on by.

For sun seekers: Plan your afternoon around scenic kayaking or paddle boarding throughout the unique characteristics of the lake. For a more relaxing day, lounge on one of the many beaches and bring your sunglasses, as there is plenty of sunshine and water to share. Robertson Park is a massive park near the center of Lake Ray Hubbard.  You can see and access the park directly from Interstate 30 or check out Pecan Grove Park for a guaranteed wet time at Rowlette’s Family Waterpark.

For entertainment lovers: Conveniently located along the shoreline, Rockwall Harbor offers an exciting waterfront entertainment center with exceptional dining, fashionable shopping, popular live music, movies, walkways along the harbor, scenic views, sunsets, and more.
